Visual Information Processing Evaluation

Visual Processing refers to the way the brain gathers and interprets visual information.  Children and adults, including those suffering from a concussion or traumatic brain injury may have challenges in this area.  Symptoms associated with visual processing deficiencies include:

  • Difficulty drawing or copying
  • Difficulty seeing differences in shapes, letters or letter reversals
  • Difficulty with reading
  • Challenges with spatial awareness, depth perception, feeling uncoordinated or clumsy
  • Difficulty working in an environment with loud music/noises or distractions
  • Difficulty completing task quickly and accurately in a timed situation
  • Difficulty remembering information
  • Difficulty interacting with others

Improving these skills is beneficial for enhancing work performance, school performance as well as learning new things.

Our evaluation measures visual processing skills related to reading fluency, letter reversals, handwriting, attention/concentration, visual-spatial relations, visual memory, and the ability to use both eyes and hand to reproduce visual information.  If deficiencies are noted, an individualized treatment plan is recommended.
