Our doctors are Developmental Optometrists evaluating how the visual systems integrates with the other systems of the body. While standard optometrists look at the health and acuity of the eyes, development optometrists evaluate how the eyes work together to see a single object. The following are included in the evaluation:
- Eye-teaming - Are both eyes aimed at the same target?
- Oculomotor Function (tracking) - Are the eyes able to moving together in a smooth pattern? Can they jump accurately from one target to the next?
- Accommodation (focusing) – Are objects clear at near and at distance? Can they see clearly when looking from near to far quickly and maintain clarity through prolonged activity?
- Visual Motor Integration (eye-hand coordination) – Do you have good balance and coordination? Are you able to catch or hit a ball accurately?
